本人主要從事熱帶海洋-大氣相互作用研究。針對(duì)亞洲夏季風(fēng)的爆發(fā)源頭-孟加拉灣,創(chuàng)新性提出了海洋上層熱力環(huán)境與大氣內(nèi)部擾動(dòng)事件(大氣季節(jié)內(nèi)振蕩,即ISO)位相鎖定的夏季風(fēng)爆發(fā)模型,從海氣相互作用角度闡釋了亞洲夏季風(fēng)首先在孟加拉灣爆發(fā)的原因,并揭示了ENSO事件對(duì)孟加拉灣夏季風(fēng)爆發(fā)異常的調(diào)制機(jī)理。在ISO研究方面,闡述了南亞季風(fēng)區(qū)ISO由冬季模態(tài)向夏季模態(tài)的分步轉(zhuǎn)換特征及其與南亞夏季風(fēng)階段性爆發(fā)進(jìn)程的物理聯(lián)系,指出了印度洋ISO強(qiáng)度不同于傳統(tǒng)認(rèn)識(shí)的雙峰分布特征,揭示了春季ISO在海洋大陸地區(qū)存在的向東傳播障礙現(xiàn)象。
